Andy Roe, London Fire Commissioner
Thank you for your interest in joining our new Audit Committee within the London Fire Brigade (LFB). The LFB is one of the largest fire and rescue organisations in the world, servicing one of its most complex, dynamic, global cities. The environment in which we operate is ever changing, and LFB needs to change with it in order to be fit for purpose.
This is a truly exciting time to join the LFB. We are part way through the implementation of our Transformation Delivery Plan which directly responds to the recommendations published as phase 1 of the Grenfell Report and the outcomes of our inspection by Her Majesty’s Inspectorate for Constabularies and Fire and Rescue Services (HMICFRS). We are looking to appoint an Independent Audit Committee to provide challenge and assurance on London Fire Brigade’s control environment to support the organisation to ensure that it is well managed and able to deliver its priorities.
As either the Chair or as a Member of the Audit Committee, you will bring your considerable governance, scrutiny or audit experience to help ensure our Transformation Programme is delivered in such a way which supports achievement of the strategic aims of the LFB, enabling continued organisational learning and change, and working collaboratively with other organisations across the wider GLA group.
We are seeking experienced senior leaders with the oversight expertise needed to to support and guide this complex and large-scale transformational change programme. We are a collaborative organsiation so you will also need to demonstrate excellent engagement, communication, and interpersonal skills and be able to evidence your ability to scrutinise comparable large-scale transformation.
